Features Settings determines the pieces of information in the CMM output file will be used to compare different files to determine if the measurement results are for the same feature.
1.Click the Template Type down-arrow and then click the CMM output from the list.
2.Click the template you wish to modify in the Template Control section and then click the edit button.
3.Click General in the list, which displays the Templates - General section.

5.Click Features, which displays the Templates - Features section.
6.Click in the Feature Dividers text box and then type any characters that divides features.
Example: In PC-DMIS, all features are divided with a line.
7.Click the Feature ID Recognition checkboxes, which is used to decide if the data from different samples is for the same feature and detailed in the Feature ID Recognition Table.
8.Click the Axis ID Recognition checkboxes, which is used to decide if the data from different samples is for the same axis and is detailed in the Axis ID Recognition Table.
Characteristic |
Any information from the header. |
Feature Name |
Provided by the CMM software. For example, DIM D2 in PC-DMIS. |
Axis |
Name of the axis. For example, TP for position in PC-DMIS. |
Nominal |
The value reported as the desired measurement size. |
Plus Tol. |
The value reported as the plus tolerance |
Minus Tol. |
The value reported as the minus tolerance |
CMM software that includes the bonus in the plus tolerance will result in different tolerances reported for each sample. Step Ahead will interpret the results as being from different features, and not report the sample results together
NOTE: The first file is always treated as master, and is used to compare all other samples. To eliminate this issue, click OFF the plus tolerance in the feature ID recognition.
Axis |
The name of the Axis, such as X, Y, Z. |
Nominal |
The value reported as the desired measurement size. |
Plus Tol. |
The value reported as the plus tolerance. |
Minus Tol. |
The value reported as the minus tolerance. |
